Our Mission

Our main goal was to establish a school and a medical camp for the UNTOUCHABLE CASTE in remote villages in Bihar province in India. This has changed somewhat since the outbreak of COVID-19. We are now a fluid organization that is willing and able to help as many needy persons as we can. Many of the villagers in and around Bodhgaya literally have no food on a daily basis. There seems to be too many people, with no money and no work. The children are going to bed hungry at night and waking up hungry.

HELP US BUILD A NEW SCHOOL

We learned that we need to move from our school. The owner needs the building for his family. A local family supporting the school has loaned us a spot on his undeveloped land to build a new temporary school, until we can find a permanent location. The least expensive method is to build a straw/bamboo structure. We have started building the school, with most of the building materials gathered cheaply using locally available natural products. We need your help to keep moving forward.

What has been accomplished

In March 2019 we opened the school with two locally hired teachers and a cleaning person (many of the students had never used an indoor washroom nor a faucet). Between 30 and 60 children attended the school. With donations from our friends in Spain, we built desks, painted walls, added wall displays, and installed carpets to protect against the cold earth floor. Whenever we have enough money, we hired a local mother to cook dal and rice for the kids at the school and for the residents of the village.
